Electrolux dryer gasket came loose in Sunol
The customer in Sunol called after a gasket came out of the dryer near the lint-filter opening. A loose seal in this area should be corrected before continued use because the lint-filter housing is part of the dryer's airflow path.
Inspection confirmed that the original gasket had moved out of its mounting channel. It was still serviceable, so a replacement part was not required. The correct repair was to open the housing, clean the mounting area, and reinstall the gasket evenly.
What the lint-filter housing gasket does
The gasket seals the lint-filter housing to the surrounding dryer duct. It helps keep airflow moving through the intended path and prevents lint from escaping through gaps around the housing.
When the gasket moves out of position, simply pushing the visible edge back may not seat the full seal correctly. The housing needs to be opened so the gasket channel, duct opening, and fastener points can be inspected.
Gasket reseating and lint cleaning
We removed the lint-filter housing section to reach the displaced gasket. The accessible lint and dust were vacuumed and wiped away so debris would not remain beneath the seal or interfere with reassembly.
The original gasket was placed back into its mounting channel and aligned around the duct opening. We then returned the housing to position, tightened all four fasteners, and confirmed that the gasket remained evenly captured around the opening.
