Location: Danville, CA
Appliance: Miele K 1813 Vi refrigerator and Miele F 1803 Vi freezer
Model: K1813VI/F1803VI
Replacement parts used: Evaporator fan motor for the K 1813 Vi refrigerator and complete ice-maker module for the F 1803 Vi freezer. The correct parts were matched from the complete appliance identification information; customer serial numbers and barcodes are not published.
Customer complaints: The refrigerator had heavy ice around the evaporator area and was not cooling or circulating cold air correctly. The separate freezer's ice maker was not producing ice.
Diagnosis: In the refrigerator, accumulated ice restricted the evaporator area and drain path, and the evaporator fan motor was seized and would not run. In the freezer, the ice-maker system was checked before the non-producing ice-maker module was replaced.
Repair completed: We performed a controlled defrost, thawed and opened the refrigerator drain line, replaced the evaporator fan motor, reassembled the airflow system, and tested cooling. In the freezer, we replaced the complete ice-maker module and reassembled the compartment.
Result: The K 1813 Vi fan and airflow were restored and the refrigerator returned to normal cooling. The replacement ice maker was installed in the F 1803 Vi and the freezer was returned to service for its normal fill and freezing cycle.
Two Miele built-in units repaired in Danville
This Danville service visit involved two different appliances installed together: a dedicated Miele K 1813 Vi refrigerator column and a dedicated Miele F 1803 Vi freezer column. Although they appear as one built-in kitchen system, they are separate machines with different cooling components and separate repair needs.
The refrigerator required evaporator, drain and fan work. The freezer required ice-maker diagnosis and replacement. Treating them as two distinct systems was important because an airflow failure in the refrigerator does not explain an ice-production problem in the freezer.
Miele K 1813 Vi refrigerator: ice, drain line and seized evaporator fan
Inside the refrigerator, heavy ice had accumulated around the evaporator and airflow section. The ice had to be removed before the fan, drain path and surrounding components could be evaluated correctly. A frozen evaporator area can restrict air movement even while the refrigeration system continues producing cold temperatures.
We opened the evaporator compartment, completed a controlled defrost and thawed the drain line so defrost water could move through the intended path. After the ice was cleared, the evaporator fan motor still would not operate and was mechanically seized, confirming that replacement was required.

A new evaporator fan motor was installed, the airflow section was reassembled and the refrigerator was tested. Normal fan movement and cooling returned after the repair.

Miele F 1803 Vi freezer: ice maker stopped producing ice
The separate Miele F 1803 Vi freezer was cooling, but its automatic ice maker was not producing ice. Before replacing an ice maker, it is important to rule out an operating-setting problem, an incorrectly seated ice bin, poor freezer temperature, a closed water supply, a restricted filter, a frozen fill path or a control-side fault.
After the relevant checks, the existing ice-maker module was replaced. The removed assembly carried component markings ICMA041US and 9000797243. These are recorded as markings visible on the module, not presented as a universal orderable Miele part number. Correct compatibility must be confirmed from the complete Miele model, production revision and serial information.

Before replacing a Miele F 1803 Vi ice maker: homeowner checks
This simplified checklist is based on the service checklist supplied with the photographed ice-maker assembly, the official Miele F 1803 Vi operating manual, and Miele's current limited or no ice production guidance. It helps identify basic causes but does not replace professional service documentation.
- Confirm the freezer and ice maker are switched on. Verify that the appliance is operating and the Ice function is enabled.
- Check freezer temperature and door sealing. A warm freezer, frequent door opening or a door gasket that does not seal can reduce or stop ice production.
- Seat the ice container completely. Push the correct ice container fully into its normal operating position so the appliance can detect it. Do not hold or tape a safety switch by hand.
- Check for an accessible ice obstruction. Look for cubes stuck together at the outlet, but do not reach into the ejector mechanism or touch the ice-maker heater while the freezer is connected to power.
- Confirm the cold-water supply is open. Check for a visibly closed shutoff valve, a kinked line or a leak. If water is leaking, close the household water shutoff when it is safe to do so and arrange service.
- Check the water filter. Make sure the correct filter is fully seated and respond to the filter-change indicator. A restricted or incorrectly installed filter can reduce water flow.
- Allow the normal production cycle to finish. The F 1803 Vi manual says the first cubes can take up to 10 hours after initial startup. Production also varies with freezer temperature, water temperature and water pressure.
- Record any error before restarting. Record any error shown on the normal appliance display before cycling power. Service LED codes and switch-controlled diagnostics are for a qualified technician.
For this model, the operating manual specifies a water-supply pressure range of 25 to 80 psi. A plumber or qualified appliance technician should verify pressure and plumbing when flow is uncertain.
What a technician checks before replacing the ice maker
The photographed service flow chart continues beyond the safe homeowner checks. A qualified technician may read the model-specific service LED, run the correct self-test for the appliance production revision, verify door and bin-switch signals, inspect the fill solenoid and fill tube, test the inlet heater, check wiring and connectors, and distinguish an ice-maker fault from a power-module fault.
Those procedures can involve exposed electrical components, live-voltage measurements and temporarily controlled switch inputs. Homeowners should not bypass door or bin switches, energize the fill solenoid, probe control-board connectors or disassemble the ice maker. Before opening either appliance for service, power must be disconnected according to the Miele instructions.
The ice maker should be replaced only after cooling, water supply, filter, bin position, wiring and control checks show that the module itself is the failed component.
K 1813 Vi and F 1803 Vi model information
The labels supplied with this job identify a Miele K 1813 Vi refrigerator and a Miele F 1803 Vi freezer. Miele's specification library identifies both as separate 30-inch built-in columns. The F 1803 Vi includes the automatic ice-maker system; the K 1813 Vi is the refrigerator repaired for the evaporator fan and ice-buildup issue.
Always use the complete model, production revision and serial information when ordering parts. The serial numbers and barcodes from this customer's appliances were used only for service identification and intentionally omitted from the public article and photos. Owners can also consult the official K 1813 Vi operating manual for model-specific safety and operation information.
